INDEPENDENT office equipment company BBC digital has serviced the Gold Coast for 35 years, but the last five years has seen the Canon agent expand exponentially. After acquisitions in Queensland, Melbourne, Sydney and most recently Adelaide, BBC Digital now has six offices across four states.
“Over the last five years we’ve made a number of acquisitions and expanded into major capital cities,” says executive director Andrew Hill.
“However before the expansion into Adelaide was finalised in March last year, the offices were all different companies with varying product offerings. named the 2010 Major Airport of the Year 2010 by the Australian Airports Association (AAA) in December.
“Gold Coast Airport has worked hard as a team to become a significant aviation hub in Queensland, and with the realisation that we will now have flights operating to each capital city within Australia (outside of Queensland), it’s extremely gratifying to see that strategy pay off,” says chief operating officer Paul Donovan.
“To be held in such high esteem by the Australian aviation industry is very humbling and is the result of the hard work and commitment from our team of talented staff. Gold Coast Airport has welcomed a record of just over five million passengers, an achievement in itself considering the terminal was a construction site for the majority of the year, as we put the finishing touches to our $100 million terminal redevelopment.”
The redevelopment, which has been operating in various stages of completion since February 2010, doubled the size of the facility to 30,000sqm and boasts new luggage screening and lounge facilities. The airport is Australia’s sixth largest and contributes around $1 billion to the economy.
“Over the last 12 months we’ve centralised the national business model by rebranding all the offices as BBC Digital and replacing uncommon stock with the Canon range consistent across the entire brand.” Former Hyundai A-League boss Archie Fraser joined the company in January as CEO.
