Stay Ahead of Remote Security Threats
Require employees to use Virtual Private Networks (VPN) – Many home networks are unsecured and pose security risks. Therefore your remote employees should utilize VPN to connect to your information systems. A VPN will create a secure tunnel to ensure end-to-end data encryption, making internet traffic unreadable by bad actors who might intercept it.
Secure all employee devices – Many remote employees use their own PC or laptop for work. Unfortunately, these personal devices are soft targets due to out-of-date antivirus software and weak passwords. If possible, have your employees work only on company-provided devices. In the event of any exceptions, be sure to perform a security audit on any device they may be using to secure them against potential threats.
Don’t forget to secure home printers – Employees’ home printers should be assessed as well to ensure the firmware and software are up-to-date, default login credentials have been changed, and they are disconnected from the internet.
