Steps To Improve Printer and Copier Security
Change the default password: If you haven’t changed your printer’s default password, do so immediately.
Authorize users: Require employees to enter a username and PIN or password when using your equipment and remind them never to share this information with anyone.
Treat your multifunction printer as if it were a PC: Give printers and copiers the same high level of protection as your PCs, as they are just as vulnerable.
Encrypt the hard drive: Multifunction printers store data on their hard drives after every use. Encrypt your hard drive to make it impossible to read without a decryption key.
Regularly update printer software: Not keeping your software up to date leaves your devices vulnerable and open to attack.
