Set some ground rules – Establishing rules is the best way to prevent chaos from reigning in your home. Clearly define prohibited behavior and activities. Let your kids know when it’s okay and not okay to bother you. Make them respect closed doors or ‘do not disturb’ signs and phone calls/video conferences.
Ease screen time restrictions – At times like this, technology can be a parent’s friend, especially if you’re trying to work with kids in the house. Let your kids spend more time than usual in front of the TV, playing videogames, or using their smartphone while you’re all cooped up together. It’s not forever and will keep them distracted and enable you to get your work done.
Help them help themselves – Put kid-safe snacks, beverages, and cups/plates/utensils on low shelves where they can reach them. Provide them with access to the supplies they need to keep busy, such as toys, books, arts and crafts supplies, and board games.
