6 Common Copier and Printer Problems and Their Fixes
Paper Jams – Once you know exactly where the jam occured, make sure any pieces are carefully extracted from inside the machine with long-handled tweezers so as not to scratch any surfaces.
Ink or Toner Problem – Ink or toner issues can often happen if the cartridges aren’t installed correctly. You may also want to check for any clogged nozzles or dried-up toner that could be blocking up certain areas of your printed page. If this doesn’t work out, try replacing your ink cartridge with a new one if possible.
Overheating – Sometimes copiers and printers can start overheating due to prolonged use without breaks which could lead to serious damage over time if not addressed quickly enough. The best way to solve an overheating issue is by scheduling regular downtime.
Low-Quality Prints – This issue often comes from dirty optics within your copier or printer. Built-up dirt can affect how accurately images are reproduced onto paper, so make sure you regularly clean these according to your user manual’s instructions. Also check whether resolution settings were changed.
Poor Scan Quality – If a low-quality scan has too many dots sprinkled over its surface, chances are you have set the ‘resolution setting’ too high (try lowering it). Similarly, if dark spots appear on scans, ensure the brightness hasn’t been turned up beyond what’s necessary (try dimming it slightly).
Printer Not Responding – Printers occasionally stop responding due to overloads when idle. Try resetting everything by restarting both your computer and printer to see if that gets things working again.
